Go! And Keep Walking in Resurrection Power

Christ is risen - He is risen indeed!

We're now a couple of weeks beyond Easter Sunday. The chocolate eggs have been eaten, the school holidays are over, and life has, for many, returned to "normal." But the resurrection of Jesus was never meant to be a once-a-year celebration - it is meant to be a once-for-all transformation.

Luke 24:13-16 (NLT): "That same day two of Jesus' followers were walking to the village of Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem. As they walked along they were talking about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things, Jesus himself suddenly came and began walking with them. But God kept them from recognising him."

In Luke 24, we read the story of two disciples walking the road to Emmaus. They were discouraged, confused, and heartbroken. Jesus had died, and with Him, it seemed, their hopes had died too. And yet - the risen Jesus draws near and walks with them, even though they don't recognise Him at first.

That's resurrection power: Jesus walking with us even when we don't feel it.

Jesus listens to their sorrow and then opens the Scriptures to them. He takes them back to Moses and the prophets and explains how it was always God's plan for the Messiah to suffer and then enter glory. He reframes their pain through the lens of God's Word.

John Stott once said, "We must allow the Word of God to confront us, disturb our security, undermine our complacency and overthrow our patterns of thought and behaviour." Resurrection power doesn't just comfort - it corrects, it convicts, it transforms.

Later, as Jesus breaks bread, their eyes are opened. He vanishes from sight, but their hearts are burning with new passion. "Didn't our hearts burn within us...?" they exclaim.

That's what the living Word does. It reignites cold hearts. It turns embers into flame. It revives passion, not just for religion, but for relationship with the risen Lord.

And what do they do next? They run back to Jerusalem to share the good news: "Jesus is alive!" They don't wait until morning. They don't keep it to themselves. Resurrection power sends us running with the Gospel.

So here's my encouragement to you:
Keep walking in resurrection power.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
Keep your heart burning for His Word.
And keep your feet moving to share His truth.
Because the resurrection isn't just an event we celebrate - it's a reality we live.

Christ is risen - and because He lives, so do we!
